Q-Live widgets in presentation

You can embed a Q-Live poll as part of a slide — either a QR code for the audience or live results. Music and slide content remain, the audience votes in parallel, results update in real time directly in the slide.

Requirements

  • A paid plan: Premium, Premium Plus or Premium Business (not available on Free — neither in the editor nor via the MCP connector)
  • An existing Q-Live event (create one in Tools → Q-Live)

Two widgets

1. Q-Live QR widget

A static QR code linking to /q/{code} — audience scans with their phone and votes.

Widget properties:

  • Size via resize handles
  • Label (text below the QR, e.g. "Scan to vote")
  • Show code — display the 6-digit join code below the QR (default on)

2. Q-Live Results widget

Updates live with the currently active question. Renders:

  • The question
  • Bar chart of results (multiple choice / quiz)
  • Word cloud (word_cloud poll)
  • Open-text answers
  • Rating distribution
  • Countdown timer (when active poll has one)

Properties:

  • Font sizes — Question / Options / Countdown (sliders in Properties)
  • Mode — Compact (bars only) / Full (question + bars + total)

How to insert

  1. Open a slide in Builder
  2. Menu Insert → Q-Live results or Q-Live QR (without a paid subscription the items are disabled)
  3. A picker opens with your Q-Live events (owned + shared where you're co-host / presenter)
  4. Click an event → widget is inserted into the slide
  5. Resize / move as needed

How it works during the presentation

Widgets render in Player mode (Present mode + projector /present-live/{id}):

WidgetPre-presentationDuring presentation
QRReal QR code with join URLSame QR (audience can already scan)
Results"Waiting for active question…"When the presenter activates a poll in Q-Live, results appear automatically

Poll activation happens in the Clicker (Q-Live tab) or directly in Q-Live presenter. The slide widget then updates by itself.

Font sizes (Results widget only)

In Properties → Q-Live Results widget:

  • Question (default 13, range 8–120) — the question heading
  • Options (default 11, range 8–80) — text of each answer option
  • Countdown (default 48, range 12–200) — mm:ss digits of the countdown

Values are in "design units" — automatically scaled to slide size.

Editor vs. Player

What you seeWhere
Static placeholder with ember dashed borderBuilder canvas, thumbnails in slide panel
Real QR + live resultsPlayer mode + projector URL

You don't need live data in the editor — just a placeholder for layout. Real data only in the presentation.

Picker — owned + shared

The picker shows:

  • Your Q-Live events
  • Events where you're co-host / moderator / presenter (shared) — you can control these too

If you don't see an event in the picker, check the Q-Live host dashboard for your role.

Tips

  • QR widget — keep small, in a corner — doesn't disturb the slide content
  • Results widget — keep large, focal point of the slide — audience sees the chart clearly
  • Font size Question 13 default works for most, but for a large projector increase to 20-30
  • Slide background affects readability — the results widget has a white background, looks good on a dark slide
  • Continuous music — when you have a Q-Live widget on multiple slides, music keeps playing without restart

Known limitations

  • Q-Live widgets in MP4 / PNG / PPTX export render as static placeholders, not actual results (export = layout backup, not live snapshot)
  • Picker doesn't support search — if you have 50+ events, scroll
  • Changing an event on a widget = delete and insert again (for now)
