Builder — basics
🚀 First presentation in 5 minutes
- Create a project —
/tools/builder→ New presentation (pick a format: 16:9 for screens, 9:16 for stories, 1:1 for socials). Or start from a template — in the editor menu File → Templates. - Add texts — click T in the toolbar, double-click the text on canvas and type. Size, colour and font live in the right Properties panel.
- Add an image/video — Img / Video toolbar buttons; drag corners to resize (corner radius is in Properties).
- Next slide — + in the left slide panel; reorder by dragging thumbnails.
- Animate — select an object → Properties → Animation (fade, slide-in, zoom…) + trigger (on enter / on click / after previous).
- Narrate it (optional) — select the slide (click outside objects) → write the Script/Subtitles text → the AI voice button reads it. Add music via the Music toolbar button.
- Save & export — Save, then Export → pick HTML / MP4 / PNG / PowerPoint / PDF, or publish straight to the feed.
Lost? The editor layout is described right below — what's on the left, centre and right.
The Builder is the visual presentation editor at /tools/builder/[id]. Layout:
┌──────────────────────────────────────────┐

Slide panel (left)
- Thumbnails of all slides, scrollable
- Click a slide → activates it in the main canvas
- + at the top = add a slide
- Icons on the slide thumbnail (on a computer they appear when you hover with the mouse): eye = hide / show slide, wand = Restyle, copy = duplicate in this project, folder = copy the slide to another presentation, bin = delete
- Drag&drop thumbnails → change slide order
- Eye icon → Hide / show slide
Templates and Restyle
- File → Templates opens the template picker — ready-made looks (colours, fonts, layouts). File → Save as template saves the current presentation as your template, which you can then pick in other projects.
- Restyle (the wand on the slide thumbnail) restyles one slide according to a chosen template — the content stays, the look changes. Restyle is not an AI feature and costs no credits. It only offers templates you have access to.
Hiding a slide
Sometimes you want "backup" slides, drafts or variants in the project that never reach the audience.
How: hover over the slide thumbnail → click the eye icon (bottom-left, next to the number).
A hidden slide:
- Is dimmed in the slide panel + has diagonal stripes + a crossed-eye icon
- Stays fully accessible in the editor (you edit it normally) — otherwise you couldn't unhide it
- Is skipped in live presentations (
/present, projector, keyboard won't get stuck on it) - Is skipped in HTML export (the hidden slide is simply not in the HTML file)
- Is skipped in MP4 export (narration + animation timeline is recomputed without it)
- Is skipped in feed embed (presentation published to the PMGclub Feed)
- Q-Live widgets on a hidden slide are also skipped (the poll snapshot isn't used)
Numbering for the viewer: only visible slides count (3/10, not 3/12).
Heads up — edge case: If you hide a slide mid-presentation (clicker is currently running), indexes shift and the session can behave oddly. Hide slides outside of an active broadcast.
Transfer slides from another presentation (Compare)
Want to reuse a slide from another of your decks? In the toolbar click ⫿ Compare — a panel opens on the right where you pick another presentation and see its slides as previews. On a specific slide click "Transfer" and it's inserted into the presentation you're editing, right after the active slide (with new IDs, so nothing collides). The panel is read-only — the source presentation is not changed.
If the source has a different format (e.g. 9:16 vs 16:9), the panel warns you — transferred objects may need adjusting.
The opposite direction (send the current slide to another project) is available on the slide thumbnail as "copy to another project".
Canvas (middle)
The main editing area:
- Slide in the middle as a white rectangle with a shadow (or
slide.backgroundcolor) - Padding around the slide (gray area) — you can park objects there, or start rubber-band drag from there
- Click an object → selects it, shows the Transformer (handles for resize/rotate)
- Double-click text → inline edit
- Drag = move object; drag corner = resize
- Arrow keys = move by 1 px (Shift+arrow = 10 px)
- Cmd/Ctrl + click = add object to selection (multi-select)
- Drag empty area = rubber-band (lasso objects)
- Cmd/Ctrl + wheel = zoom
- Buttons bottom-right = − / 100% / + zoom; click percentage = reset to fit
Properties panel (right)
Tabs Properties / Animations.
Properties shows editable fields of the selected object:
- Text: font (15+ Google Fonts incl. Space Grotesk, Instrument Serif italic, JetBrains Mono — PMG Network design system), size, color, B/I, align, line height
- Image: URL (upload new), opacity
- Video: URL, Subtitles section (see Video subtitles)
- Shapes (rect/ellipse/line): color, stroke, corner radius
- Z-order (layering) — bring to front / forward / backward / send to back
- Duplicate / Delete
When nothing is selected, shows slide properties: background color, slide music, narration.
With multi-select (2+ objects), the bulk edit view appears — shared properties apply to all selected. More in Objects.
Animations tab — see Animations.
Toolbar (top)
| Section | Actions |
|---|---|
| Left | Back (gallery), format (16:9/9:16/1:1), Undo/Redo, T add text, □ rect, ○ ellipse, — line, 🖼 image, 🎬 video |
| Middle | Templates (apply styling), Save as template, Import PPTX, Import PDF |
| Right | Music (global), Animations (overview), Export & Share |
On mobile the toolbar shortens into a carousel + some actions move to the FAB menu in the bottom-right.
Formats: single-format vs. multi-format presentations
On the left of the top bar there is a format label. It tells you how the file behaves:
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 1 formát: 16:9 | Single-format file — one layout shared across all aspect ratios |
| 9:16 · odnož | Multi-format — you are editing a branch, the master is a different format |
| 16:9 · master | Multi-format — you are editing the master (the project's default format) |
Adding a format: click the label → + Přidat formát 9:16 (or 1:1). The new ratio is created by automatic reflow from the master and you then fine-tune it independently.
What is shared across formats (a change applies everywhere):
- slide texts and their translations
- voiceover, captions and their translations
- presenter notes, hidden flag, slide duration, music
- structure — number, order and identity of slides
What is independent (applies to that format only):
- positions, sizes, font sizes
- animations
- objects added or deleted in that format only
More options in the same menu:
- Přegenerovat odnož z masteru — discards manual position tweaks in this format and reflows again
- Zrušit multi-formát — deletes the branches, keeping only the master
Export and sharing from the editor use the currently open format — for a portrait video, switch to the 9:16 branch before exporting. Publishing a branch. Preview, projector and feed embedding all use the currently open format — to share the portrait version, switch to it first and publish from there. The format travels in the URL (
?format=9:16); links to the master keep working unchanged.

Saving
- Autosave every few seconds after a change
- Status indicator in the toolbar: "Saving…" / "Saved"
- You can close the tab safely — changes are saved
Tips
- Maximum space —
Cmd+wheelup to 130–150% and scroll = slide at full container size - Park objects outside slide — drag past the slide edge, stays visible in the padding but isn't in the slide
- Reset zoom = click on the percentage in the bottom-right corner
