Import PPTX and PDF

Builder can convert an existing PowerPoint into editable slides and build a presentation from the text of a PDF document.

Import PPTX

Path: Toolbar → Import PPTX.

After the file loads you pick one of three options:

  1. Import and animate (recommended) — the slides are converted and brought to life right away: bullet text becomes animated Bullet points (points appear one by one), a row of identical boxes becomes a Card grid, boxes with numbers become Stat cards, and the rest of the content enters in sequence. The texts stay exactly the same, the logo and footer do not move. Animations the PowerPoint already had are kept. No AI, no credits. Before inserting you see a per-slide summary and can insert the original instead.
  2. Insert as is — a faithful conversion with no further changes.
  3. Enhance with AI — AI reads the texts and rebuilds the slides in a PMG Club template (costs credits).

What gets transferred

From PPTXTo Builder
TextText objects (size, colour, font, alignment, line spacing)
Bullets and numberingPreserved (•, 1., 2., nested levels)
Shape with textColoured box + text on top
Titles and text from the slide layoutPosition and style inherited from the master
Theme coloursConverted to real colours
ImagesImages (incl. crop), uploaded to storage
Grouped shapesSplit into individual objects in the right position
TablesCells as texts (with cell fill)
Slide backgroundColour or image (also from the master)
Speaker notesSlide notes (shown in the Clicker)
Animations (entrances and exits)Preserved — order, on click / after previous, type (fade, fly in, zoom…), duration
Hidden slideHidden slide
Charts, SmartArt, video, audioNot converted — the dialog lists which slides are affected

Limitations

  • Max ~50 MB file
  • Text in one shape gets one size and colour (per-word formatting is unified)
  • Logos and decorations from the master are not transferred (only the background)
  • Per-paragraph animations become whole-text animations — "Import and animate" brings the lines to life
  • Complex shapes (arrows, custom curves) become rectangles; vertical text alignment is approximate

Steps

  1. Click Import PPTX → pick .pptx
  2. The file is split into parts (~2 MB) and uploaded
  3. The server converts it into slides and uploads the images
  4. Pick Import and animate, Insert as is, or Enhance with AI
  5. The slides are inserted after the current slide

What to do if it looks weird

  • Texts off-slide — drag them back, or use "Restyle" to apply a PMG Club template
  • Missing images — check the source size (over ~5 MB may not upload)
  • Wrong font — pick another one in the properties panel
  • You don't want motion — insert the original, or remove animations in the Animations panel

Import PDF

Path: menu File → Import PDF (on mobile in the toolbar or in the actions menu).

Who can use it: the Business Premium plan and partners who were granted the import by an admin. Without access, the Import PDF button is not shown in the editor.

Import PDF does not reproduce the look of the pages. The text is read from the PDF, AI proposes a presentation outline from it, and the slides are built in a template you pick. It suits manuals, offers, reports and other text documents. For a faithful conversion of a finished presentation use Import PPTX.

What you get from a PDF

From PDFTo Builder
Document textPresentation outline — 15 slides at most (a PDF page ≠ a slide)
Document titleCover slide
Descriptions and explanationsContent slides (title, subtitle, short text)
Figures, technical parameters, procedure stepsSlides with points
Conclusion, contactsClosing slide
LanguageThe language of the original is kept
Images, charts, tables, page layoutNot transferred

Limitations

  • Max 50 MB PDF
  • The PDF must contain real text. A scanned document (pages as images) is rejected — run OCR on it first.
  • Password-protected or damaged PDFs cannot be read
  • Only the beginning of a long document is processed — the first 15 pages with text, roughly 12,000 characters at most. Split a longer document and import it in parts.
  • The slide texts are written by AI — they are a summary, not a verbatim copy. Check them after the import, especially figures and parameters.

Steps

  1. File → Import PDF → drag a .pdf into the window or pick it
  2. The file uploads (larger files show a progress bar)
  3. AI reads the text and proposes slides — the dialog shows how many there are and of what type (Cover, Content, Parameters, Closing)
  4. Pick a template — the slides are built in it
  5. Check the preview (the titles of the slides). The back arrow lets you try another template; credits are not charged again.
  6. Click Insert … slides into the presentation → the slides are inserted after the current slide

Cost

  • Import PPTX (Import and animate, Insert as is): free
  • Import PPTX — Enhance with AI: 10 credits
  • Import PDF: 10 credits per import. Charged only after a successful conversion — a failed import costs nothing. Without enough credits the import does not run.

Tips

  • For PPT presentations over 30 slides, consider splitting into two files and importing separately
  • Will the import read my PDF? If you can select and copy text in the PDF with the mouse, the import can read it. If you cannot (a scan, text converted to outlines in a design tool), the import rejects it.
  • After import run Restyle with your preferred PMGclub template — unifies typography and colors across slides
  • PowerPoint animations transfer on their own — entrances and exits of objects, including order and timing. Emphasis effects and motion paths are not transferred. Add more animations in the Animations panel; they are also included in the MP4 export.
