Internal speaker notes

Each slide has two text fields — "Script / subtitles" and "Notes (just for me)". They are different.

Difference: notes vs. subtitles

What to use notes for

  • Key points you want to mention but they're not on the slide (e.g. a statistic or anecdote)
  • Timing milestones ("by here I should be at 12 minutes")
  • Transition phrases to the next slide ("now we'll move to the last section…")
  • Reminders ("point at the audience", "pause 3 seconds", "ask a question")
  • Foreign names and pronunciation ("Pavlík not Pávlík")

How to write them

  1. In Builder, click a slide in the left panel (no object should be selected)
  2. In the right Properties panel find the "Notes (just for me)" section — amber field
  3. Write text — multiline OK, no formatting (just plain text)
  4. Auto-save (after a few seconds)

Below the field: "Not published. Not saved to subtitles or video." — that's an intentional safety net.

How to read them during the presentation

In the mobile Clicker open the Notes tab — you'll see the text from the current slide, yellow/amber background, easy to read from a phone while presenting.

When you change slides, the notes automatically update to the new one.

If a slide has no notes, the tab shows a placeholder: "No notes for this slide. Add them in Builder (Slide Properties → Notes)".

Security — why they're strictly separated

Notes contain internal info that must not leak. So:

  • During export (MP4, HTML, PNG, PPTX) the notes field is stripped server-side from slide objects
  • Projectors /present-live/{id} and /present/{token} also strip notes (server-side filter)
  • Public feed embed of a presentation = no notes
  • Public-access API endpoints = no notes

You can safely write even sensitive info (numbers, client names, fallback questions when audience doesn't respond).

Tips

  • Short bullets > long sentences — during the presentation you don't read paragraphs, just scan
  • Bullet points using dashes or numbers
  • CAPS LOCK for an emphasis word you must not forget
  • Personal shorthand — develop your own (e.g. "P:" for pause, "!" for emphasis)
  • Stage directions in brackets: [point at the pillar], [pause 3s], [expect laughter]
